Las Vegas is the most populous city in the state of Nevada, the capital of Clark County, and a major resort city internationally renowned for the gambling industry, shopping, and entertainment. Las Vegas, dubbed the Entertainment Capital of the World, which is renowned for its casino and entertainment resort some kind. A pensioner and family city, Las Vegas is the 28th most populous city in the United States with an estimated population by the US Census Bureau as many as 558 383 inhabitants in 2008. The estimated population of the Las Vegas metropolitan area in 2008 was 1,865,746 inhabitants.
Established in 1905, Las Vegas officially became a city in 1911. With the growth that followed, at the end of the century Las Vegas became the most populous city in the United States that was founded in the 20th century (formerly Chicago in the 19th century). Tolerance of the city to the various forms of adult entertainment earned it the nickname Sin City, and this nickname makes Las Vegas a popular spot for filming and television programs. On the other hand, Las Vegas also has the highest number of churches per capita than any other city in the US. Display outdoor lights exist everywhere on the Las Vegas Strip and at a number of venues throughout the city. Seen from space, the Las Vegas metropolitan area is the brightest city on Earth.
The name Las Vegas is often placed on a freelance region surrounding the city, especially the resort areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip. Stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard along the 4 miles (6.4 km) is located outside the city limits, in the town of Paradise and Winchster off, and continues to Enterprise.
On the first Friday of each month, the celebration of “First Friday” was held showcasing local artists and musicians in an area of downtown that is now called “Arts District”.
Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park, also called the Las Vegas Zoo, showcased more than 150 species of animals and plants.
Smith Center for the Performing Arts for $ 485 million (currently under construction) will be built in downtown in Symphony Park. The center will be used for the Broadway and other attractions are also the orchestra, opera, and dance performances.The city also hold annual events like the Helldorado Days (Las Vegas).
Las Vegas also has a venue, namely Las Vegas Little Theater.
The main attractions of Las Vegas is the casino. The most famous hotel is located at Las Vegas Boulevard on the road known as the Las Vegas Strip. Large casino is located outside the city. Many of the hotel is very large, has thousands of rooms, with large casino areas inside the hotel. Also many hotel casinos in the downtown area, which was the original point of the gambling industry in the city early days. Some hotels and casinos are also located outside the Strip, also in districts around the city. In 2009, the total number of hotel rooms in Las Vegas is 140,000 rooms.
A number of major casinos involved in gambling is in the city center Fremont Street Experience which allows bar closer, like the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego.
